Apple Pie Filling

This is a very traditional filling for apple pie.  It doesn’t need any explanation just, can anyone say Thanksgiving?  Your recipe for the pie crust is also on the blog.

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees Mix together the brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a small bowl.
  2. In another bowl, sprinkle apples with the juice of 1 lemon and toss. Stir in the sugar mixture to evenly coat the apples.
  3. Mound the apple and sugar mixture into the pie pan lined with the dough. Dot with the cubed butter.
  4. Top with the second crust in your choice of configuration. Brush with egg wash. Bake pie for 45 minutes. Allow to cool at least 20 minutes before cutting.
