July’s Cooking Class

Oh boy did we have fun this month!  We made manicotti, ( the recipe is posted on the recipe’s part of the blog) it was delicious.  You can see the gals busy stuffing the shells in the picture. (the sad thing is that Audrey was the one with the camera so we didn’t get her included 🙁  )  Note to self: take your own pictures, you’re the blog writer!

IMG_0883Instead of learning a new basic skill as we have the past few months, we had a taste testing segment experimenting with grilled avocados. (It was hard work but somebody had to do it, as they say)  Over the 4th I ate at a restaurant that served grilled avocado appetizers.  They were filled in the middle with tapenade and served with toasted baguette slices.  They were delicious.  In preparing for the class we did some additional research on the recipe and found optional fillings to the tapenade, mainly pico de Gallo , and a grilled  tomato filling.  We decided to try all three. The result of the “study” was…….they are all delicious!!!  Imagine that.  We used toasted baguettes as well as toasted triangles of pita bread.  Following is a pictures of our study.  You will find further instructions on making this wonderful summer appetizer in the recipe sections on the blog.  Give them a try.  I guarantee it will be come a new go-to favorite for your  summer bar-b-cue.IMG_0890ue.
