For this recipe you need a cast iron frying pan, and a steak that is about 1 1/2 inch thick.
Pre-heat oven to 450 degrees. Get the cast iron pan very hot, on top of stove.
Season steak to your preference. Place in hot pan for two minutes. Turn over and place pan, with steak, in oven for 12 minutes. (The other side will brown in the oven.)
Enjoy a perfect medium rare steak! Adjust oven cooking time if you want your meat more or less well done
