Crockpot Beef Stew with Mushrooms

Prep time: 20 minutes  Cook time: 7 to 9 hours  Servings 8

8 new potatoes, quartered

1/2 cup chopped onion

3 medium carrots, sliced on the bias

4 to 8 oz. mushrooms, sliced

1 can (14  oz.) diced tomatoes, with juice

1 can (10 oz.) beef broth

1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1/2 cup flour

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon sugar

1 teaspoon dried marjoram

1/4 teaspoon pepper

1 1/2 pounds beef stew meat ( cut in 1″ cubes)

If you are being budget conscious, you might want to compare the price per pound of all ready cut -up stew meat versus a chuck roast (boneless, or bone-in)  Sometimes the roast will be cheaper and is often better flavor, and then  just cut your own.  Oh yes, you can do it!!!   Dredge meat in seasoned flour mixture and brown in some hot oil.  Combine all ingredients in the slow cooker, adding beef last  Cover and cook on low for 7 to 9 hours until beef and vegies are tender  Stir before serving.
